With GUTS ! I played for a few years enjoying the “Rock” side of music. With heavy guitars, drums, but also trumpet and violin I could play some rough bass in a mix of Rock with Chanson Française.
Le Monde Bleu (the blue world) is one of those compositions including these contrasted influences with a rough approach.
Fabienne Vandenplas is the perfect singer for this kind of music, No doubt, she could face the power, and even get her strong voice above the all band. I enjoyed especially the freedom for me to add some unusual parts to this music. After a while I produced the record Ardense on Carbon 7, which is the only recording of the band.
LE COPAIN DE L’ AMI
..il jouait le copain de l'ami...
lui qui, un soir ... me reconduisit
si subtilement ... me détourna !
Me justifier !
Et Devoir Tout vous expliquer !
Avec Haine, tout revendiquer !
Plus de secours, reste le détour ...
...il jouait le copain de l'ami...
Lui qui, un soir ... me reconduisit
Si subtilement ... me détourna !
m'inventa je ne sais plus trop quoi !
Plus de Secours Reste le Détour !
Ranging from the French "chanson", and underscoring a complicity with such greats as Piaf, Gainsbourg, Brel, Ribeiro and Ferré.
Influences are multiplied through the contribution of brass, moving then towards the muscukar riffs of rhythm and blues or even funk and then to the intimate moods or vitriolic flights that the likes of Miles Davis, Don Cherry and associates can Whip up in jazz blue notes.
Approaches of structures, rhythms and harmonies scarcely used by most rock musicians also emerge on the horizon.
A real rotgut which sweeps away preconceived notions, served by an authentic group not afraid to play its guts out !

I cant explain why I love this album, but I can say with reasonable certainty that I do. Canterbury insanity combined with pure creativity, topped off with hard prog here and there. Grievous Swoons

With hints to the Rock in Opposition movement, musically, this album is sure to make more than a few of you happy!

The two epic tracks on the latest from BC group Lakeman are mind-melters, opening slow and pensive before erupting into near-doom metal. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 4, 2022
