95 minutes of finest RIO, composed by Henry Krutzen, Alexandre Moura-Barros, and Jean-Louis Aucremanne. The band originated in Belgium, but Henry Krutzen moved to Brazil in 2001. Another gem from Guy Segers' "Carbon 7" label.
Favorite track: Back On - (Finnegans Wake).
A double CD as a fourth opus by Henry KRUTZEN with his project FINNEGANS WAKE.
After the 3 previous albums with FINNEGANS WAKE and a few Henry Krutzen solo albums, now the ideas were so many that it took the space of two full records.
The material is dense, and travel as a voyage spread through 13 compositions, makes us follow and discover multiples facets of this brilliant fresco.
So, lots of material, a vast sum of ideas.
The style zigzag between Innovative Rock and Classic Contemporary, but is always accessible.
A vision without frontiers and with an actual flavour.
Henry KRUTZEN moved from Belgium to live in Brazil, and there quickly found musicians who could join this adventure.
Particularly Alexandre MOURA-BARRO take part as a great instrumentist, but is also implicated himself as a composer on this new creation.
He made us discover his talent and vision in this musical concept.
He melt perfectly in the FINNEGANS WAKE concept.
The other musicians are also from high level, and show us that there are many talents in Brasil besides the world of Samba.
They are even armed or more than the ICTUS musicians who take part of Henry KRUTZEN album "Pictures".
Here maturity emerge and lift the level of writing, precision and fluidity to leave us in front of a major work in this style.
FINNEGANS WAKE becomes one of those major bands of the moment.
The band has an open vision, full of finesse and freshness.
This music is now for good part of the same family than artists as : Cro Magnon, Louise Avenue/Jan Kuijken, Eric Mertens, Christian Genet, Hardscore, Galileo Brothers, Franck Balestracci, but once again, is personal and take us in a new direction, optimist and full of surprises.

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends ;-)
In other words, this is a real treat for fans of classic ELP - or keyboard-driven early 70s prog - fans, more generally.
Perhaps a little less virtuosic than the forefathers, but surely with a sharp (knife-)edge.
Fun-fact: Helmsman and keyboardist Thor Erik Helgesen normally plays guitar in a black metal band ;-) Carsten Pieper
The two epic tracks on the latest from BC group Lakeman are mind-melters, opening slow and pensive before erupting into near-doom metal. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 4, 2022
