about

Well that each musician has it’s own experiences that include several musical styles (it goes from World Music to to Rock or classical contemporary music and Jazz), “Himalaya” is an ensemble of musicians who commit themselves in a direction with “world music” tendencies.
Here we find instruments that typical to World Music, while being quite different. In deed, the sitar, the flute, the harp, the acoustic guitar, tabla are typical, but one can’t find them rarely together.
Also, they are sometimes acoustic, sometimes electric.
And to gives body to the music, there is an electric bass and a drum set made by several percussions.
Also, an electric guitar and a saxophone gives to the all a new color.
The vocals are mainly assumed by John Litton Baroï, who brings the flavours of it’s country (Bengladesh), and obviously transport us into the world of Indian music, wraped around the instrumental part as “Nusrad Fateh Ali Khan” could do.
Saskia Vanhoegaerden’s aerial feminine voice complete perfectly the space with John.
It’s a music that flow easely, a nice voyage on rhythm combinations, and strong themes, and mainly brings color contrasts with what you usualy find in Oriental style of music.
A positive state of mind, a pleasure to listen to it, an innovative concept. India is the main inspiral , but here, we’ll find several subtle incerts that contribute to make this music unique.
