Another gem of rock history for half the price, thanks to a "Cuneiform" promotional offer. Phil Miller has left his glow-in-the dark footsteps forever as one of the sculptors of the "Canterbury" sound, while being a member of "Matching Mole", "Hatfield and the North", and "National Health". He always was more on the "fusion track" of "Canterbury", and fusion is what he did later. My favorite tracks are those three he plays alone using a lot of MIDI guitar. Great fretless bass on the other ones!

This is the sixth Dewa Budjana album in my collection, and for $5 at a 50% promotion, it's a real steal! Well, I have to admit that I'm a big fan of his early albums, released when he wasn't a star yet, worked with local musicians, and included a fascinating far-east folk feeling in his compositions. The latter is almost completely missing on this most recent album of his, starring part of the who is who of fusion. It's well-done middle-of-the-road fusion most of the time, but alas, nothing exceptional. Even Mohini Dey's technically perfect bass wizardry is not really touching. The highlights are, in fact, both of the songs contributed by John Frusciante, "Crowded" and "Zone".

This was a special offer for the friends of fast decisions - an album for $3.45 on the occasion of the birthday of David Cross. Happy birthday to David! He was part of the "King Crimson" lineup that probably was the best ever - the one that lasted from 1972-1974, featuring the exceptional drummer Bill Bruford and the no less exceptional singer, songwriter, and bassist John Wetton. Some great old gems from this time are included on this live album, culminating in the awesome epic "Starless".

Since "Temple Island" is my favorite track on the "Postcard From Bali" sampler, it was clear that I would purchase "Home" sooner or later. In this case, it actually happened sooner, because it's really a stunning folk-fusion album with wonderful melodies. Couldn't wait anymore...
