Eric Mertens knows how to make exciting music, and "White Worker" is just as fascinating as his 1995 album "Spleen", available here in Guy's archive as well. Effortlessly, he integrates multiple genres, like RIO, big band, classical chamber music, avantgarde, and post-minimalism. I've got several favorite tracks on this remarkable album, and in the end I decided for "Out-and-Outer" because of its break-neck tuba bass lines. Favorite track: Out-And-Outer - (Eric Mertens).

White Worker is Eric Mertens’ latest release and a follow up to his first CD Spleen.
White Worker is a wonderful collection of 11 contemporary chamber music compositions wherein Eric is joined by a large cast of supporting musicians on a variety of strings, brass, and woodwinds.
Beautiful melodies interweave in a tapestry of serious and sometimes comical threads.
I am reminded of bands as diverse as Sensations Fix, Weather Report, Henry Cow, and Alan Parsons Project.
Finely crafted, this is an excellent CD to relax to after a stressful day. Highly recommended.
